Text Assistant

What is Text Assistant?

Text Assistant is a powerful AI-driven tool designed to help you generate high-quality text for a wide range of use cases, from crafting sales pitches and blog posts to writing personal letters. While it is no longer actively maintained and relies on older GPT APIs, it remains a user-friendly and efficient solution for those who want to harness the power of AI without a steep learning curve. The app allows you to create and save your own custom prompts, giving you quick access to tailored outputs for any scenario. You can add unlimited prompt options, reuse them as needed, and even include symbols for enhanced formatting. Output can be copied instantly, and you can share your custom prompts with friends via a convenient URL scheme. For Safari users, there is an experimental extension that lets you apply your prompts to any content within the browser, though it is currently limited to three built-in prompts. Global settings let you adjust the temperature and GPT model, with per-prompt customization coming in a future update. The app connects directly to OpenAI, ensuring the lowest possible costs since you provide your own API key. A gallery of example prompts helps you get started quickly, and a conversation mode lets you chat with famous personalities. Upcoming features include macOS-wide text support, per-prompt temperature and token adjustments, custom prompt use in Safari, design tweaks, keyboard shortcuts, a menu bar app for Ventura, Shortcuts integration, and an iOS version via TestFlight. Text Assistant is free to download (enter 0 in the price box), or you can support the developer by contributing a small amount. Note that an OpenAI API key is required, as this approach keeps costs minimal for you.
