What is Seeing AI?
Seeing AI is a powerful talking camera application developed by Microsoft, specifically designed to assist individuals who are blind or have low vision. By harnessing the capabilities of artificial intelligence, the app provides audio descriptions of the visual world, enabling users to access information that would otherwise be unavailable. The app offers multiple channels or 'channels' for different tasks: Short Text reads small amounts of text instantly, Document mode reads longer documents with guidance for framing, Product mode scans barcodes to identify products, Currency mode recognizes denominations, and People mode recognizes and describes people's ages, emotions, and more. The app also includes a Scene description feature that provides an overall description of the environment, and a Color channel that identifies colors. The app is constantly updated with new features and improvements, and it works offline for most channels. It is available for free on iOS and, as of recent, on Android in beta.
